Both Sunday Morning Services

River Valley Newsletter December 13, 2018

Sunday's Sermon

Last Sunday we continued Advent by looking at Isaiah 40:12-26. On the darkest of nights when all hope seems lost and you can't imagine how you’ll get past the mountain before you, remember: God keeps track of every star in every galaxy in the universe. Certainly He will never lose track of you! Behold your God is mighty to save!

If you missed Sunday's sermon, be sure to listen or watch it this week by following the link below. We hope to see you this Sunday. Bring your Bible and a friend and we'll see you there!

We will have 3 identical services on Christmas Eve at 4:00, 5:30, and 7:00 pm.
Each service will offer childcare for children up to age 4.

  • Shampoo
  • Toothbrushes & Toothpaste
  • Bars of soap
  • Deodorant
***The biggest need is toilet paper***

Parents Night Out

Today is the last chance to register your children for this wonderful evening!

If you're a parent of an RV Kid, we want to bless YOU! On Friday, Dec 14, from 6-8:30 pm we will be watching your kids so you can go Christmas shopping, go on a date, or just stay home and watch a movie. Registration is required for this event, so please make sure you register by December 13th!

Pizza, a movie, and games will be waiting for your kids when you drop them off at River Valley. Your cost? Bring one (or more) item(s) for our Comfort for Christmas Drive (list of items needed above). This event is specifically for children from birth to fifth grade.

MOPS Childcare Opportunity

The MOPS (Moms of Preschoolers) is looking for volunteers for child care. MOPS meets at 9:00-11:00AM on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month starting Wednesday, January 9th and continuing on until Wednesday, May 22nd.

Open to all 6th - 12th graders and their friends! This will be a fun night to gather, enjoy community, play lots of high energy games, and celebrate the coming of the new year! Snacks and drinks will be provided in the evening and breakfast will be served before students are picked up in the morning. Event is FREE but students must register! Click on the button below to get signed up!

Winter Palooza (Ice Skating + Movie) | Thursday, Jan 3, Noon-5:30pm
Another winter break event for all 6th-12th graders and their friends! From noon to 12:45 we will be in the Delta for lunch together. The cost is $5, and students must register for the event below. They must also fill out an updated Medical Release Waiver found at the bottom of the Student Ministry page: rivervalley.net/students/

Update on Pastor Shane

Thank you for praying for Pastor Shane and his family this week. The doctor’s best guess at this point is that Pastor Shane has a form of Guillain Barre. It may take weeks to months for him to regain his normal abilities to walk on his own. When he is released from the hospital, he will be moved to a rehab facility before going home. He has had a lot of pain in his head and neck because of the spinal tap they did on Friday. Please pray they are able to get the pain under control. Also pray that he is able to get some sleep. Because of the pain and general discomfort, he has slept very little in the last couple days. Please also pray for peace and joy for Shane - that he will know more deeply God’s presence with him. Pray for Kari’s health – she has had a nasty sore throat the last couple days and is not getting the best rest right now either. Pray for their kids – for strength and peace.

If you would like to continue to receive updates on Pastor Shane, or prayer requests for other members of River Valley, please contact Christine at cmester@rivervalley.net
