What is the Luke 4 Challenge?

At River Valley our mission is to "impact the world as we follow Jesus together".  About a year ago we began to see God unfold to us new ways in which we could carry out this mission. 

What our leaders see...

• our current debt load consumes over $11,000 of our monthly budget which handcuffs resources for ministry.
• that we are called to be an even more generous church outside our walls.
• that our parking and facilities are inhibiting. We have overcrowded kids' ministry spaces, inadequate HVAC systems, multiple roof leaks, and folks who are discouraged and drive away when they can't find a parking space on Sunday.

God is leading us to impact Our Families by taking care of some immediate needs within our building, to impact Our Community by retiring our debt so that we can be more generous as the hands and feet of Jesus in our surrounding community, as well as by partnering with PHM schools to expand our parking lot, and to impact Our World by helping Scripture Union in Uganda build a camp for kids.

"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.  He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." Luke 4:18-19
