Our Curriculum
Growing in God’s Word from Ligonier Ministries is a Christ-centered, Bible focused curriculum that is designed to teach children--from toddlers through elementary ages--to know who God is and what He has done in Jesus Christ. This resource is intentionally crafted to help children grasp the holiness of God, the sinfulness of man, and the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ—truths at the very heart of the gospel. Rather than offering moral lessons or entertainment-driven teaching, it leads children to see their need for a Savior and invites them to trust in Jesus alone for salvation.
Every Sunday, the curriculum walks children through the unfolding story of redemption, showing them how every part of Scripture points to Christ. They will hear clearly what the gospel is, why repentance and faith matter, and how obedience to Jesus shapes every part of life.

Midweek New City Catechism for Kids
We firmly believe in the validity of Scripture and the importance of it in our daily lives starting from a young age. From the earliest years, we desire for our children to be shaped by the truth of God’s Word, learning not only Bible stories, but the great doctrines that anchor our faith.
The New City Catechism for Kids is a rich, modern resource designed to help children in grades K–5 grasp the core truths of the Christian faith in a clear and memorable way. Through question-and-answer teaching rooted in historic Reformed theology, children are grounded in who God is, what He has done in Christ, and what He calls us to believe and live.
We invite you to join us on Wednesdays throughout the school year as we prayerfully seek to train up our children in the knowledge of God, cultivating hearts that love Him and lives that reflect His grace.

Safety
The safety of your kids is of the utmost importance to us at River Valley, and to everyone on the River Valley Children's Ministry Team. In order to maintain a safe and secure environment in our Children's Ministry—for your kids and everyone else’s—it’s important that we all work together to follow the proper Check-In and Check-Out procedures that are in place.
Every child’s ID sticker is matched to a parent-identification number, every volunteer is screened with an interview and background check, and every hallway is monitored by security personnel.

INTERESTED IN SERVING IN CHILDREN'S MINISTRY?
We count it a great privilege to partner with families in raising up the next generation in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. We are always seeking mature, faithful followers of Christ who love His Word and desire to see children grow in the knowledge of God and the gospel of His grace.
Serving in Children’s Ministry is not simply childcare—it is a joyful stewardship and sacred responsibility to help lay a strong biblical foundation for our children, teaching them the truth of Scripture and pointing them to Christ week after week.
We especially encourage parents to prayerfully consider serving on the Children’s Ministry Team. What a gift it is to invest your time and talents into the spiritual formation of our children and to labor together as a church family for their growth in Christ.
