River Valley Church exists to glorify God by making disciples of Jesus
who love one another and impact the world with the gospel.

Our classical Christian homeschool co-op exists to partner with River Valley parents in
acknowledging that all education is under the lordship of Jesus Christ
and the authority of God’s Word.

Our Philosophy

We believe that parents—not the church or schools—have been entrusted by God with the primary responsibility of raising and discipling their children. Our Classical Homeschool Co-op comes alongside River Valley Church covenant member families by providing encouragement, accountability, and Christ-centered instruction that complements what is already happening in the home.

Because every area of life belongs to Christ, we believe education should be intentionally biblical, deeply rooted in truth, and aimed at cultivating wisdom and godly character. Through a distinctly Christian and distinctly classical approach to learning, our desire is to help children grow to love what is true, good, and beautiful while developing minds that are prepared to serve Christ faithfully in every area and season of life.

WHY CLASSICAL
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION?

Classical education seeks more than academic achievement. It aims to form the whole person by cultivating habits of attentiveness, discipline, virtue, and wisdom. Rather than simply teaching students what to think, it equips them to think carefully, reason biblically, communicate clearly, and delight in God's created order.

Our co-op integrates biblical truth throughout every subject, encouraging students to see Christ's lordship over all of creation and every field of study.

Who is the Co-op for?

Our Classical Homeschool Co-op is a ministry of River Valley Church and is available exclusively to our covenant members. We believe discipleship flourishes within the life of the local church, where families share a common theological foundation, biblical convictions, and a unified vision for raising the next generation to know, love, and follow Christ. As parents, students, pastors, and fellow church members labor together, the co-op becomes more than an educational program—it becomes an extension of the discipleship and community that define our church family.

Parents are an essential part of the Co-op

Our co-op is intentionally different from a traditional school.

Meeting together one day each week during the school year, families learn alongside one another while continuing to homeschool throughout the rest of the week. Parents remain actively involved by participating in co-op days, serving alongside other families, and faithfully discipling their children at home.

Rather than replacing the homeschool experience, our weekly gatherings strengthen it by providing community, accountability, shared learning, and mutual encouragement among families who are seeking to honor Christ in their homes.

We believe one of the greatest blessings of the co-op is watching families grow together as they disciple their children alongside other like-minded believers.

Our Co-op Programs

Our Classical Homeschool Co-op currently serves students from Pre-K through Middle School, with a clear vision for the future. Lord willing, we plan to expand through High School beginning with the 2027–2028 academic year, allowing families to enjoy a consistent classical Christian education from the earliest years through graduation.

Co-op classes meet one day per week throughout the school year, providing a consistent rhythm of learning, fellowship, and encouragement while leaving the remainder of the week for families to continue their homeschool studies at home.

Pre-K (Ages 3–4)
A joyful introduction to learning through Bible memory, hymns, early literacy, number sense, presentations, and age-appropriate skill development.

Elementary (Kindergarten–5th Grade)
Students participate in a rich classical curriculum featuring Bible instruction, catechism, hymn singing, memory work, science, fine arts, and weekly presentations. Older elementary students may also participate in an afternoon Fundamentals program focused on grammar, writing, and Greek and Latin roots.

Middle School (6th–8th Grade)
Our all-day middle school program builds upon the classical foundation with studies in Bible, science, Latin, history, cartography, logic, and writing, preparing students for thoughtful Christian maturity and lifelong learning.
